Dr Oliver Jewell
Department of Biodiversity, Conservation & Attractions (DBCA)
Dr Oliver Jewell has spent the last nine years chasing sharks across Western Australia; from the remote waters of the Kimberley to the World Heritage shores of Shark Bay. Before calling WA home, he worked across the UK, South Africa, the Netherlands and California, building a career defined by one recurring obsession: sharks and the science of understanding them. Now Marine Park Coordinator for Shark Bay with DBCA and an Adjunct Research Fellow at UWA, Oliver brings together cutting-edge tagging and tracking research with real-world marine conservation.
On the night, he'll open a window into the world of shark science — the tools, the data, and what we know.
